PR Web recently reported that the FDA is sending out warnings to consumers using dermal fillers. There have been side effects associated with popular dermal filler and Botulism-based facial injections. Some go-to medical websites, such as WebMD have reported as well that the FDA has been pushing for stronger warnings on dermal fillers.
I wanted to make sure I alerted all my puffy eyes readers of this warning, simply as another good reason for finding the right eye cream instead of pursuing these drastic and costly alternatives.
Some of the side effects of botulism-based facial injections, according to the FDA report, is that in some cases the botulism can spread and cause severe damage to the surrounding areas not being treated. In some cases, the loss of facial expressiveness has been reported, where patients have felt permanent numbing to tissues in the surrounding areas, and or the facial muscles.
Others have also reported less serious side effects from these injections like rashes and infections to treated areas. And some dermal fillers injections are even being recalled by the FDA, or having to add additional warning labels, because they can leave behind harmful traces in the skin post treatment.
So, as we hear more and more about the effects of dermal fillers, anti aging companies such as Dermagevity Skin Care, a leading cosmeceutical company and the maker of Eyelastin, has cited an increase in sales due to the fact that these such eye creams are just as effective at treating puffy eyes, dark circles, and eye wrinkles- and not to mention far less risky as they pose no side effects whatsoever.
